Born from my passion for tea and wellness, I created Lochá to bring sustainable tea to the market with a modern image. My mission is to make tea irresistible, promote health, and make sustainable tea the standard. I look forward to Lochá becoming a cherished part of your daily routine!

MISSION

Lochá envisions a future where tea provides an experience that balances luxury, mindfulness, and strength. We are committed to making the tea industry more sustainable, with a focus on biodiversity, transparency, and quality. Our mission is to create a harmonious connection between our communitea and the planet, so every cup of Lochá contributes to well-being, inner balance, and a healthier world.

DIRECT TRADE

Lochá works with a partner who directly sources tea from farmers, ensuring fair prices and full transparency throughout the supply chain. This collaboration not only enhances the quality of our tea but also supports local communities and promotes sustainable farming practices. While Lochá has not yet pursued Fairtrade certification due to the associated costs, we believe that transparency and fair trade should be the standard, making certification unnecessary.

PURE

Lochá is pure. Our Green Tea contains no artificial fragrances, flavorings, or sugars. It is grown without synthetic pesticides. However, our tea does not carry an organic certification. This is a conscious choice, as organic certification requires all ingredients to be organically grown. Currently, it is more sustainable to directly source non-organic ingredients locally in Sri Lanka, rather than importing organic ingredients from the other side of the world. This also supports the local communities in Sri Lanka. The majority of our blends consist of tea leaves that are organically grown.

QUALITY

Lochá stands for quality. Our tea is sourced from the lush tea gardens of Sri Lanka, where the island's perfect climate nurtures the finest tea leaves. Grown with care and dedication in the rolling hills, Lochá delivers a taste that is perfectly balanced to offer you an unforgettable experience. We exclusively use loose-leaf tea, and for good reason. Loose-leaf tea is of superior quality, as the larger leaves have more room to expand during steeping, resulting in a fuller, more complex flavor compared to the finely ground tea in bags. It is also less processed, preserving its natural oils and health benefits. Larger leaves retain more of the vital nutrients, such as antioxidants, polyphenols, and catechins. Additionally, loose-leaf tea creates less waste, as it eliminates the need for bags, strings, or staples.

BIODIVERSITY

Often, you'll see vast tea fields filled with rows of perfectly manicured tea plants – a beautiful sight, but not always sustainable for the soil. At Lochá, we are deeply aware of this. That’s why, in the tea gardens, a variety of spices and fruits grow alongside the tea plants, ensuring the soil remains healthy and the environment thrives. This approach supports biodiversity and helps maintain the land for future generations, creating a more sustainable tea-growing ecosystem.

PACKAGING

We use sustainable packaging for our tea. When crops like rice, corn, and wheat are harvested, 80% of the plant is left behind. From the stems and leaves that remain after harvest, we create our eco-friendly packaging. In addition to using responsible raw materials, our production process is fully CO₂-neutral, ensuring minimal environmental impact. Furthermore, our packaging and printed materials are biodegradable, supporting our commitment to both nature and sustainability.
